Anal glands expressed. A dog's anal glands frequently become impacted which leads to infection and irritation often resulting in a visit to the vet. This can easily be prevented by emptying or "expressing" the anal glands. It's not a pleasant job (which is why your dog groomer will do it for you), but it prevents illness in your dog and saves you a trip to the vet.
